M. Scott Rizzo

Mr. Rizzo is a senior executive with a diverse background gained through a variety of career positions. He is well versed in crafting growth strategies based on the prediction of industry and global economic trends.  He drives the implementation of these strategies with a passion for team building, constant communication and sound research. The strategies he has implemented have generated millions of dollars in profits for his Firm(s) and his clients.

In his most recent role, as the Vice President and Global Head of Supply Chain Operations for Barrier Therapeutics, he created and developed the global risk mitigation strategy and logistical optimization platform, both of which are considered best in class in the pharmaceutical industry amongst his peers. Under his guidance the supply chain and trade group at Barrier performed multiple global product launches and life-cycle line extensions, all while mitigating the risk and cost of work in process and finished goods. Mr. Rizzo led cross-functional teams to improve speed to market and balance global inventory models all under a strict GMP environment. Prior to Mr. Rizzo joining Barrier, it had yet to receive FDA approval for any product. In his 4.5 years at Barrier, Mr. Rizzo launched multiple products in the EU and US, including a record 12 week life-cycle line extension. He has developed excellent relationships with top executives at numerous contract manufacturing companies, as well as excellent relationships throughout the US pharmaceutical distribution channels. He is a member of the senior leadership team reporting directly to the CEO.

Prior to joining Barrier Therapeutics, Mr. Rizzo was Director of North American Supply Chain for Hoffmann-La Roche. In five years he led a distribution consolidation process for Roche which reduced overhead and optimized existing operations. The cornerstone of his effort was a restructuring of the testing capacity for all US inbound product in order to satisfy future EU requirements without incurring cost.

For over a year, Mr. Rizzo was a consultant for Coopers & Lybrand and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, LLP in which he led multiple successful engagements at top tier pharmaceutical companies and directed value chain initiatives which redefined current business practice and led to savings in excess of $500mm.

Before pursuing a graduate education, Mr. Rizzo gained valuable experience in the automotive industry. In this setting he first practiced operational efficiency and accrued true cross-functional leadership skills through union collaboration. In addition, he was a member of the first US team to fully integrate Mazda Motors practices.

From a diverse automotive and pharmaceutical career, Mr. Rizzo developed management expertise through progressively challenging positions in global strategy, supply chain, manufacturing/operations, logistics and procurement.

Mr. Rizzo is a graduate of Pennsylvania State University where he received both his Masters in Business Administration and his Masters of Manufacturing Management. He is a member of the Rutgers University Graduate Center for Supply Chain Studies and is on the Alumni Advisory Board for Pennsylvania State University.
